The Russian imperial stout is the strongest in alcohol and body of the stouts. Black in colour, these beers typically have an extremely rich malty flavour and aroma with full, sweet malt character. It's a complex beer who's signature flavours are roasted notes, espresso coffee, bitter chocolate and warming alcohol (we're talking 9, 10% plus). Bitterness can come from roasted malts or hop additions. It’s like a Guinness on steroids, the flavours are more intensified.
